In its continuing effort to be the global leader in food processing, the OSI Group announced it has acquired Baho Food. Baho Food, the Netherlands largest food processor, produces and distributes delicatessen meats and snack foods. The Aurora, Illinois-based global food processing giant did not reveal terms of the Baho Food acquisition.
The OSI Group provides a vast array of food products, and services to the food service and retail sectors. OSI Group has over 60 production and distribution facilities worldwide. OSI group has been the recipient of numerous awards acknowledging its commitment to job safety and workplace environmental concerns.
The deal with Baho Food requires European regulatory agency review and approval. It strengths the OSI Group’s position as the leader in food processing ad distribution services in Europe. OSI Group President and COO, David McDonald, commenting on the Baho Food acquisition, “The company’s portfolio of products and brands complements OSI’s current processing strengths while broadening our capabilities to best serve the evolving needs of our customers.” The acquisition brings Baho subsidiaries Q Smart Life, Henri van de Bilt, Gelderland Frischwaren, Vital Convenience, and Bakx Foods under the OSI Group banner.
In addition to the Baho Food merger, the OSI Group added to its production capabilities with the purchase of the Tyson Foods Chicago, Illinois food processing plant. The 200,000 square processing plant produced a diverse selection of meals and foods for the hospitality sector. An OSI Group spokesperson indicated the former Tyson Foods plant provides the needed infrastructure and fits well with OSI Group’s strategic growth strategies for the future. It did not elaborate on what foods would be processed at the facility.
